The Unforgetable

I was in the library that night when suddenly my phone rang which I had on vibration mode. When i looked on the screen, i recognised the code as that of my home village, my heart skipped a bit when i realised it was my neighbour's landline. God, what is it now? These people have to let me study oo! I was preparing for my 1st year finals.

''Jane, ke kopa gore o itshware tlhe mma(jane, please be calm)'', it was my neighbour's voice on the other side.
''Kgomotso, ke itshware, go rileng?(why should i be calm, what's wrong?)'', it had slipped my mind by then, that i was in the library, and that i had to keep quiet. I was already on my feet as i answered that call.
''Bashi o golafaditse mmago(your father has hurt your mum)''
''Hurt her how'', my voice was all over the building.
''He stabbed her''
''He what? what do you mean?'', sometimes when you hear things like that, you totally lose it. You don't even know what is means by somebody being stabbed.
''Where's my mum right now?''
''she's here with us''.
''How is she?''
''Aah, we donno''
''Kgomotso, she's right there with you, what do you mean you donno?'', by that time i was fast on my tracks, outta the library. It was around 8pm. I headed to the domitories, put my books away. In my heart i knew that, that night i had to be in Serowe, how? I didn't know, but i knew i had to get home. I ain't a christian and i don't go to church, but that night i saw myself putting all my faith in God and begging Him to see me safely home. I begged Him NOT to take my mum!

You people should've seen how i was walking oo! Practically running. It's many kilometers from the college to the bus stop, and the taxis had already knocked off by the time i hit the road. After walking/running for some time, a car came from behind me. I gave a sign for a ride, it stopped. I begged the guy to take me straight to the railway station. Lucky enough, immediately i got there, the train came. God works miracles.

3am i was in Palapye. Then i knew i had only 45km to get to Serowe. At the hiking spot, after waiting there for like, forever, a lil minibus came, the guy said he was coming from Gaborone. When i got in, i looked at him, my eyes swollen red, coz i cried all the way i was travelling. I had always told my mum that, ''this guy's goinno kill you''. But she wouldn't listen.
So i looked at that guy and told him, ''you taking me straight to the hospital okay?''. Ha! Can you imagine? Like it was my car. Silently, the driver just nodded and didn't ask me anything on the way.

When we arrived in Serowe, i could hear my mum's painful sobs from the entrance gate...

So when my brother/cousin,Fox-short for Lefhoko(meaning a word), Doc's brother, married his then girlfriend, Tshidi in December of 2008, i prayed so hard, i prayed everyday that they shouldn't go thru the same things you know? I know that couples do go through some rough times sometimes, but not to an extend where physical abuse end up turning to killings, stabbings and all. Click HERE for some beautiful wedding pictures, try and see if you can spot Jaybabe as one of the bridesmaid. Pardon me, there's a lot of them, take your time.

Look Who's Talkin'...

Compliments everyone. My mum is goinno be mad finding this in here, but i decided to introduce myself coz i donno why she's not tellin' you people about me. Well...my name is Alex. I'll be 4 months old end of this month. I live in Serowe with my grandma, two brothers(Jnr and Jeddah) and one sister(Vicky).

I feel very honoured to be a member of this family. There's just so much love surrounding me everyday and when my mum is in the city, workin', Vicky helps grandma in tending to my needs while my brothers make sure i aint bored by watchin' t.v with me. Cartoons most of the times. I love Speedy Gonzales( the fastest mouse ever). I think i need to stop here because if my mum finds me writtin' stuff in here i'll be dead. She's saved a picture of the four of us somewhere in this machine. I think she's goinno write something about us soon. Meanwhile stay chuned...!
